Press your own flowers - Fresh flowers can easily be pressed with common household items. Place one flower in between two pieces of waxed paper. Place the waxed paper in the middle of a heavy book such as a dictionary or reference book. Place other heavy books or object on top of the book and leave for 1 week. Take care when removing the flower to use in your projects as some flowers become very brittle.

Floral photos for every day decor – The next time you see a pretty flower, take a number of pictures of it. Take some photos close up and some far away. Capture different angles. YOu can then use these photos in a collage, or individually in a series of framed pictures.

Recycle fabrics and gift wrap – Choose fabrics and paper with pretty patterns by cutting out individual petal shapes and creating unique flowers for new projects.

Dried roses make beautiful wreaths – Next time you receive a bouquet of pretty roses, dry the flowers before they wilt and use them to create a pretty wreath you can enjoy for years. To dry roses, remove from the water and hang upside down somewhere out of the way. This will allow the buds to set upright.

Make your own flower arrangement – this is a classic floral art activity. You can use dried or fresh flowers. Create a pretty piece in a vase or bowl or even a wreath. One fun idea is to take dried or silk flowers and create a wreath look around an old wide brimmed sun hat to hang on the wall.
